Benon, Butabika and An Open Door

by Jimmy on October 6, 2008

Benon, is one of our church planters and is doing a great job. He is assigned to the Butabika zone for this six months of Manna Ministry. Pray for Benon as he works to build up the kingdom. He has a true heart for the Lord and a BIG job.

This very month I made 4-5 trips every week to Butabika parish. This has been made possible by the boda-boda that I have and also because of the restructuring of our new work strategy between the ministry leaders. This restructuring is very good because I am designated to lead Butabika parish for these 6 months with a single-minded focus on this location and not being spread out too much as before to both new and old work points. But this area itself covers 7 zones and there is much work to be done.

At the beginning of the month I had a goal of starting 2 House churches and am very glad to report that is done! And these are located in two zones of this parish: Kirombe zone and Biina zone. The attendances are also very good as 20 people came for our very first service and many more are being added into both of our fellowships.

I am getting the DNA for T4T passed on to all these fellowship members through the T4T training that I have gotten to do from the beginning. That’s why I make so many of these field trips. And this is already getting encouraging for me when I see potential leaders all around me. Phoebe and Bwenge are potential leaders that I have already identified to mentor and train.

This area is a catholic stronghold, but also lots of Moslems are settled out here and so this is a great opportunity for Evangelism. And for the last couple of days while a mission team from Brandon Mississippi came out and did just that for a few hours, 40 people came to Christ Jesus! It was such a great blessing! I am now following them up and getting them connected to the House church for further discipleship and other training. Most of these have been enrolled into Bible way.

This location offers lots of great opportunities for ministry. The area is very close to the lake and so there is an opportunity for baptism, without worrying about transport cost. It’s walk-able on side of the parish, and so we are planning for baptism soon.

The Butabika hospital has opened for us its doors, that we may plant a fellowship in that mental hospital.

The Butabika School of psychiatric nursing is also open to us for. The general population of students is totaling 530.

So do pray for me, the Manna staff and Bible way crews and also for house-church plant here. Be inspired with the scripture Col 4:2-3 as you continue to join in this blessedness of sharing the Gospel and making disciples for Jesus here in Butabika parish. I am really looking forward to seeing you soon for those of you are on your way here and may God bless you all!

May God bless His ministry
