Bible Way Update from Douglas in Kampala, Uganda.
We are excited to report to you all that Bible way has a new work started in Masindi district within the district prison facility. This district is in mid-west Uganda …very close to Murchison falls game pack.
This new work got started when one of the ex-prisoners and Bible way student, Kenneth, got very passionate about the discipleship course that he was involved in.
Kenneth, whose other name is Kamuleya, got saved when Bible way launched into Luzira prison. Kenneth saw the transformation and growth it brought to his life while in prison at Luzira, and how the New Life class helped him through the transition from prison life back to his community.
When he was released, he volunteered with Bible way mobilizing the work here in Kampala for four months amongst prisoners and has faithfully been part of the Bible Way New Class (Bible Way after prison accountability and discipleship group) which he still keeps in touch with even when he has moved to Masindi. He wanted his home people from his ancestral home district of Masindi to get involved in Bible Way discipleship.
Kenneth went back to Masindi, found a regular job, then headed straight to Masindi prison to start. Twenty inmates enrolled right away into the discipleship course of WHO IS JESUS. The prison welfare department saw that this would be a blessing to the entire prison community so they promoted this as part of their FAL (Functional Adult Literature) – but one with a transformational approach!
The prison administration organized a graduation for its FAL program students and these 20 Bible way students were considered as part of the program. Actually, they became the day’s major celebrants, a favor every one could tell came from God.
Kenneth is sold out to promote Bible Way in Masindi amongst inmates, high school students, and other streams of people in his community. For example, in order to get the books that the twenty inmates finished graded in time for the graduation, he loaded them onto an early morning bus from Masindi, called Joseph to pick them up, grade and return them. He did this at his own personal cost.
So, while the twenty Bible Way students were graduating, another ninety-seven inmates were enrolled into Bible Way that day. There were more who wanted to be enrolled but did not know how to read or write in Luganda, English or Swahili (these are the current bible way discipleship translations). But to overcome this challenge, Kenneth spends one day a week teaching through the materials to the inmates.
There are many very wide open doors in Masindi district for evangelizing and making discipling through Bible way. Thanks for supporting Bible way,
