It’s More Than A Name: M938

M938….What kind of blog title is this? A blog title designed to keep ME focused. A simple way for ME to remember my life’s mission as a Christ follower and where the heart of the Lord is.

Why do I need this reminder. Because it’s easy for me to snuggle down and get all comfortable in my prosperity and good life here in the United States and think that everything in life is about me. I become fixed upon my problems, my concerns, my needs, my ministry and on and on and on it goes. In my heart and mind I tend to believe that America is the center of the Kingdom of God, that I am the center of America and that whatever I am doing is the most important thing on God’s plate. So, if all is well in the Lord’s Kingdom, all must be well in my life. Now, I don’t say this out loud and I would never admit to it if asked. That would not be spiritual…would it? But in my heart, I know it’s there. As bad as I hate to admit it, it’s there. So I need a constant reminder. A wake up call if you will. And Matthew 9:38 is that for me.

As Jesus walked among the people, he saw their hurts and their helpless condition. Matthew 9:37 says, “They were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd”, and he was moved with deep emotions for them. The Bible says He had “compassion on them”. He not only saw their great need, He saw their potential. They were a great harvest ready to picked. But there was a problem. There were only a few workers for such a great harvest. So, in verse 38, Jesus asked his disciple to pray for workers, “Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”

I have seen these harvest fields as well. Places where the people are not only open to the gospel of Jesus Christ, but responsive. Places where people are hurting and are seeking help. Kampala, Uganda is just one of these places. The fields are truly ripe there and the workers that are already there need our help. They pray for our help. That is why I go. That is why I pray for the Lord of the harvest to raise up more volunteers and churches who will see the need and become an answer to the Lord’s prayer for workers. This is why IMFC exists. That’s why I named this blog “IMFC M938 Blog”. We must be involved in the harvest and we must be raising up more workers. Will you join us?
