“As the Lord commanded his servant Moses, so Moses commanded Joshua, and Joshua did it…”
What is the “it” Joshua did? Kill tens of thousands of people, if not hundreds of thousands, destroy their property and seize their lands.
Moses gave Joshua the command from God and set the example by defeating and destroying the two kings, Sihon and Og, whose kingdoms were on the east side of the Jordan River. Joshua carried out the plan on the west side of the Jordan by defeating and destroying thirty-one kings and dividing the land among the twelve tribes of Israel.
Moses got the people into position to carry out God’s plan, then Joshua enacted the plan.
God devised the plan. Moses revealed the plan. Joshua fulfilled the plan.
Moses and Joshua both performed their jobs well and the people of Israel possessed the promised land in accordance to God’s plan.
God has a plan for today. It’s not killing a lot of people to physically conquer a land mass. That has already been done. His plan today––It is telling and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is to make Jesus Christ known in all to the world.
What is your job or role in God’s plan? Do you know it? Are you doing it?
