Joseph, Douglas and I left Kampala at 8:00 AM to reach Kitala Prison by 9:00AM.
Kitala Prison is located just outside Entebbe. It is a high security prison surrounded by a five strand barb-wire fence. About 100 men are imprisoned in Kitala. No women are here, except the LC or warden and gate keeper who are women.
When we arrived several men were gathered on the lawn awaiting us, forty in all. Some prisoners were at court to be tried, and several were on work detail earning money for the prison.
Since this was the first day for Joseph and Douglas to be at Kitala and the first day for Bible Way Ministry, Joseph and Douglas had to introduce themselves and the ministry. After that I shared with the prisoners about God’s grace that forgives, changes us, and gives us real meaning and purpose in life. Joseph invited the men to receive Christ and 23 men opened their hearts to Jesus and received Bible Way material.
Several Bible were given to the Warden for the prisoners to use, and she warned the prisoners that if she found them smoking the Bible, they would be in serious trouble. I think many of these men are here on drug charges and some may want the Bibles to tear the pages out of them to use for smoking instead of reading.
I don’t know if these men are “Saved” or not. But I do know that they heard the gospel of Jesus Christ. I do know that they understood what they heard because they could repeat the message that was shared with them when Douglas asked them. I do know that they openly stood and prayed to ask Jesus to forgive them of their sins and to change them. I do know that they stood before their peers and told them they had asked Christ to save them. I do know that God hears the prays of sinners. He heard mine.
I would ask you to pray for these men. Pray that they read and study the Bible Way material. Pray that the Spirt of God Himself would fill them and grow them in grace and truth. Pray that when they are released that they do not return to their former way of life, but that they live to the glory and honor of the Lord Jesus Christ. Pray for Bible Way Ministry as they continue to work in Kitala Prison and many others to see people give their lives to Jesus Christ and grow in His grace.
