Benon inspects 10,000 liter water tank donated to Luzira Remand Prison

In January, IMFC was able to buy and place 30 beds in Kasangati Prison for the female inmates. In February, we bought a 10,000 liter water tank (2,642 US gallons) to donate to Luzira Remand Prison. In March and April, we worked with the staff of Luzira Remand Prison to construct a tower for the water tank to sit on high above the ground. We bought the iron to construct the water tank tower. The inmates did the constructing. Today this project is finished and the staff and inmates of the prison are very excited and grateful. Here is an email I received from Benon a couple of weeks ago.

Water tank and tower in Luzira Remand Prison

Water tank and tower in Luzira Remand Prison

Hello Sir, Here is the photos James and I took of the water tank on its new tower when we went to Luzira prison. This donation of the water tank is praised by every one at the Kampala Remand Prison. The Madam Officer in Charge was so happy and excited. She told us that this is going to be a solution to water shortage problem which has been so rampart at the station. She added that the prison is over crowded and when the water is cut off and more than ten inmates use the toilets without flushing or taking baths, the whole place is smelling. I could see in her expression and eyes how see meant this.

Benon

Thanks for your gifts that has allowed us to expand Manna Ministry from 10,000 pounds of food to almost 23,000 pounds of food monthly, add Sudanese refugees in Arua to the program, and help with some of the great needs in the overcrowded prison system in Uganda. In the months ahead we have plans to be a blessing to many more prisons in Uganda. Thanks.

Jimmy
